FROM THE SIMPOSIUM PROGRAMM

"Since in 1986 the audit AMLCG and the childhood BFM leukemia group initiated the symposia ACUTE LEUKEMIAS: Prognostic factors and Treatment Strategies, the gap between these two main issues has become even more evident and challenging.

While suptype specific treatments have been found successful in AML and B cell ALL, data on other biological subgroups and differential effects of intersification strategies are scarce and conficting. New methodologies will further complement our understanding of the disease biology in the various genetic and functional subsets. Optimized therapeutic strategies will be created in comparative trials strictly randomized and stratified for the most relevant subsets. Improving treatment for biological subgroups opens the way to improve the overall outcome of patients with AML and ALL.

ACUTE LEUKEMIAS VIII presented and discussed the worldwide efforts on this way."

There were discused the treatment of diffirent onkohematologic diseases, various therapeutic minutes. French hematologists (professor Schison) informed about firm programm of the traeatment of myeloleukemia that gives 85% survive. In the field of the bone marrow transplantation Italiens are in the lead (proffesor Carella). It was speaking about a modification already existed minutes and also Non-Hogkins leukemias.

V. USACHENKO: - They met us, Ukrainain hematologists and sadly informed that because of the last events in our goverment it is almost unreal to organize the humanitarien help for our country. Besides, they are upset because the leukemiac groop of Ukrain after 9 years of successful work they have not got the states support and development. But after the report, after we have shown them the work of the Children's Hematological departments in Lvov, in Kiev's region and in Simferopol, Proffessor Fridrih Fridrihs said: “We can not leave you without support seing your work and results, we will try to find ways to help you”. For 9 years the work of Ukrainain hematology builds on the enthusias but these 9 years showed that the work goes in spite of anything.

There in Munster was held meeting of the leadersof Ukrainain leukemiac groop. They have disscussed there all difficulties and problems that appeare.
